Here’s a campaign we shot with Saatchi & Saatchi for Toyota Kluger recently featuring a super cute superhero.
First up, we had to source a location with a garden and a tree big enough for a little boy to swing from on a tyre superhero style. Obviously, we had to get the car on to the grass, too.
After we’d scoured Sydney’s list of go-to mansions and come up trumps, Steve actually found the ideal location himself in Centennial Park. Once we signed all the necessary documents and convinced the arborists that the tree would come out of it unharmed, we were on the look out for little superheroes…
We collected some comp cards and conducted a casting of the shortlisted talent. This time around we found our superhero at Bambini. Bailey’s vibrant personality, cheeky grin and messy locks won him the gig. Our stylist, Lucy Alder from Sophie Hart, set out to gather a range of bright wardrobe options, masks and capes (in the end, despite hand making a variety of masks, Bailey’s mum found the one we used on a whim in a $2 shop!)
In typical August style, what was forecast to be a clear day became questionable a couple of days out. Weather holds, weather checks and a bunch of crossed fingers followed.
And it worked! We arrived on location on a fine day. The photographer, Steve Greenaway, worked his magic as he shot the car and its details from all angles. By lunchtime, we were ready for Bailey to get his caped crusader on and swing from on our makeshift tyre swing. Harry Dakanalis of Pro Action Stunts was at the ready to ensure all the checks and balances were in place on day to satisfy Kids Protection and it’s pretty safe to say that the kid had a blast.
The shoot was an all-around success and we were excited when we first saw the ad appear on a digital screen at Bondi Junction late last week. Having Bailey’s cape floating behind him was a great use of the medium. Check it out! (Excuse Sarah’s daughter coughing up a lung in the background…)
